A word about doulas
A word about doulas
A doulas role is to empower a woman and her partner to be able to communicate her needs and perceptions prior to, during and after labour and birth, and actualize her dream of a healthy, positive birth experience.
So, what does that mean? That means whatever your birth outcomes are that you and your partner will feel support and respect on your pregnancy and birthing journey from your doula. Beginning at the very first meeting with your doula you will know that you have a voice and that YOU are an important…. THE most important part of your own journey.
Through working with a doula, you will be able to find your voice. A voice that perhaps, you didn’t know you had. Because doulas do not do anything medical (as it is not in our scope) we are there to specifically support you and your partner. The monitors don’t matter to us. YOU do!
Doulas understand that most women/birth givers trust that their care providers have their best intentions at heart and sometimes, however, you may feel lost in a system that is so much bigger than you and I. Your doula can support you through self advocacy and a more positive maternity journey.
Doulas support you in whatever mode of delivery you desire and wherever you choose to deliver your baby. Home, hospital, birth center, we are there for you! Induction, cesarean, medicated or not, we are there. This is your birth and we know how important having positive memories of this day truly is.
Research suggest that those that hire a doula have a decreased perception of pain, lower intervention rates, shorter labours, and overall satisfaction of their births. And from my experience, the partner support (yes partners need support too) is valuable for how you will remember this day together.
So upon booking with Down to Earth birth services know that we have YOU and your partner as our main priority.
We look forward to supporting you through prenatal visits, birth, postpartum and beyond!
