Postpartum Doula Supports

Let us join you through adjusting to life with a newborn.  Postpartum is a challenging and unique time. We are here for you while you build your early parenting confidence, focus on recovery and ease into this transition of new parenthood.

Everything but the Birth-Virtual Support Option

Everything but the Birth is a happy medium to having a doula at your birth. Sometimes, you just can't agree and your partner is NOT on board with a doula in the birthing space. This package is for those scenarios where you long for the support and education but just can't swing a doula. This way you can still have the best of everything you want!  Prenatal classes, available phone/text/email support and postpartum supports wrapped up in a nice little package just for you!

A word about doulas

A doulas role is to empower a woman and her partner to be able to communicate her needs and perceptions prior to, during and after labour and birth, and actualize her dream of a healthy, positive birth experience.

So, what does that mean? That means whatever your birth outcomes are that you and your partner will feel support and respect on your pregnancy and birthing journey from your doula. Beginning at the very first meeting with your doula you will know that you have a voice and that YOU are an important…. THE most important part of your own journey.

Through working with a doula, you will be able to find your voice. A voice that perhaps, you didn’t know you had. Because doulas do not do anything medical (as it is not in our scope) we are there to specifically support you and your partner. The monitors don’t matter to us. YOU do!

Doulas understand that most women/birth givers trust that their care providers have their best intentions at heart and sometimes, however, you may feel lost in a system that is so much bigger than you and I. Your doula can support you through self advocacy and a more positive maternity journey.

Doulas support you in whatever mode of delivery you desire and wherever you choose to deliver your baby. Home, hospital, birth center, we are there for you! Induction, cesarean, medicated or not, we are there. This is your birth and we know how important having positive memories of this day truly is.

Research suggest that those that hire a doula have a decreased perception of pain, lower intervention rates, shorter labours, and overall satisfaction of their births. And from my experience, the partner support (yes partners need support too) is valuable for how you will remember this day together.

So upon booking with Down to Earth birth services know that we have YOU and your partner as our main priority.

We look forward to supporting you through prenatal visits, birth, postpartum and beyond!

Our Message for Our Clients

We know that this time of growing a life can be scary. And while we believe that you are strong and capable, we know that there is a lot of fear placed upon pregnancy, birth and postpartum. Here at Down to Earth Birth Services it is our mission to
walk with you through this journey. We will hear you, we will be there for you and we will hold space for you. We will meet you where you are, and we will support you to have the best, well-informed pregnancy, birth, and postpartum experience.

While you are reading this and are reflecting on our beliefs around childbirth, ask yourself the following:

Do you hope to be knowledgeable about your options? Do you want the latest evidenced base information so you can make  well informed decisions?

Are you hopeful you will have a great relationship with your care provider where you feel safe enough to ask questions? Are you aware of current hospital protocols and procedures?

Are you worried that your partner wont know what to do to support you? ( doulas love enhancing the partners role:)

Do you need someone who is skilled and can provide you with emotional and physical support before, during and after labour? With the added benefit of  teaching your partner?

Do you need someone who can be available for you when you need them? Text, email, phone, in person? Lets face it partners and grandparents just don't always get it.

When you think of your

birth what do you see?

Are you worried? Anxious? Feeling overwhelmed at the idea of birth sometimes?

Or super excited to meet this baby?

If you are in the Edmonton area and answered yes to any of these questions, CONTACT US  to see how Down To Earth Birth can support you.

“I do not care what kind of birth you have… a homebirth, scheduled cesarean, epidural hospital birth, or if you birth alone in the woods next to baby deer. I care that you had options, that you were supported in your choices, and that you were respected”
